The Last 15 Minutes Review & Gameplay Guide
I just finished playing The Last 15 Minutes and I'm still trying to process my thoughts on it. I went into this game with pretty low expectations, I mean the title doesn't exactly scream excitement, but I was pleasantly surprised. The game starts off pretty slow, you're just kind of wandering around this empty world trying to figure out what's going on, but as you progress it really starts to pick up. The story is actually pretty interesting, it's all about this guy who's trying to survive in a world that's been destroyed, and it's told in a really unique way.
One of the things that really stood out to me was the atmosphere of the game. It's super bleak and depressing, but in a good way, you know? It really feels like you're alone in this empty world, and it's a pretty haunting experience. The sound design is also top-notch, the sound effects and music all come together to create this really immersive experience. I found myself getting totally sucked into the game, even when I was just walking around and not really doing anything. The graphics are also pretty great, the game has this really cool stylized look that sets it apart from other games.
Now, I do have to say that the gameplay can be a bit of a letdown at times. It's not always super engaging, and there are some parts where you're just kind of walking around and waiting for something to happen. But at the same time, I think that's kind of the point of the game. It's not supposed to be this fast-paced action game, it's more of a slow-burning experience that's meant to make you think. And in that sense, I think it's really successful. The game also has some really cool puzzles and challenges that you have to overcome, and those are definitely some of the highlights of the game.
One thing that I was a bit disappointed by was the length of the game. I mean, the title is The Last 15 Minutes, but the game itself is actually pretty short. I finished it in like 4 hours, and that was with taking my time and exploring everything. I know some people might be turned off by that, but personally I didn't mind too much. I think the game is meant to be this concise, compact experience that you can play through in one sitting, and in that sense I think it's really successful. Plus, the game is pretty cheap, so even if it is short, it's not like you're breaking the bank or anything.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend The Last 15 Minutes to anyone who's looking for a unique gaming experience. It's not for everyone, I know some people might find it too slow or too boring, but if you're in the mood for something a bit more thoughtful and atmospheric, then this is definitely a great choice. Just don't go in expecting some action-packed blockbuster, because that's not what this game is about. It's more of a slow-burning, introspective experience that's meant to make you think, and in that sense I think it's really successful.
I'm still thinking about The Last 15 Minutes even though I finished it a few days ago, and I think that's a testament to how well the game has stuck with me. It's not always an easy game to play, and it's definitely not always fun, but it's an experience that I think is worth having. If you're a fan of games like Firewatch or What Remains of Edith Finch, then you'll probably love The Last 15 Minutes. And even if you're not, it's still worth checking out, just to see if it's your thing.
