Octopus Jumping World Review & Gameplay Guide
I just spent the last few hours playing Octopus Jumping World and I'm still trying to process my thoughts on it. I mean, the concept is pretty out there - you play as an octopus who has to jump from platform to platform, collecting coins and power-ups while avoiding obstacles. It sounds simple, but trust me, it's a lot harder than it sounds. The controls take some getting used to, especially when you're trying to switch between different tentacles to grab onto things. But once you get the hang of it, it's actually pretty addictive.
One thing that really stands out about Octopus Jumping World is the art style. It's this weird, quirky mix of cute and creepy that's really hard to look away from. The colors are all bright and vibrant, but at the same time, there's this underlying sense of unease that's kind of unsettling. I'm not sure if that's intentional or not, but it definitely adds to the game's charm. The music is also pretty catchy, although it can get a bit repetitive after a while.
As for the gameplay, it's your standard platformer fare. You've got your coins to collect, your power-ups to grab, and your obstacles to avoid. But the twist here is that you've got eight tentacles to contend with, each of which can be used to grab onto things or propel yourself through the air. It's a lot to keep track of, especially when you're trying to navigate through tight spaces or avoid getting hit by enemies. But at the same time, it's also kind of liberating - you feel like you can reach out and grab onto anything, which is pretty cool.
My main complaint about Octopus Jumping World is that it gets a bit too hard, too fast. I mean, I'm not expecting a cakewalk or anything, but some of the later levels are just ridiculous. You've got these tiny little platforms that you have to jump between, while avoiding enemies and spikes and all sorts of other hazards. It's frustrating, to say the least. And sometimes, the controls can be a bit unresponsive, which doesn't help. But at the same time, when you do finally manage to beat a level, it's a great feeling - you feel like you've really accomplished something.
I'm not sure if Octopus Jumping World is going to be for everyone. It's definitely a niche game, and some people might find it too weird or too hard. But if you're looking for something a bit different, something that's going to challenge you and make you laugh, then this might be the game for you. Just be prepared to get frustrated - a lot. And maybe take a few breaks in between sessions, just to give your hands a rest. Overall, I'd say Octopus Jumping World is a solid 7 out of 10. It's not perfect, but it's definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of platformers or just looking for something new and interesting.
Overall, I'm glad I played Octopus Jumping World. It's a game that's going to stick with me for a while, if only because of its sheer weirdness. And who knows, maybe I'll even go back and try to beat some of the later levels. But for now, I'm just going to take a step back and appreciate the game for what it is - a quirky, challenging, and occasionally frustrating platformer that's definitely one of a kind. If you're feeling adventurous, give it a shot. Just don't say I didn't warn you.
